The Protein Expression and Modification Division at New England Biolabs is inviting applications for the position of Research Scientist I.

The successful candidate will be involved in fundamental biological problems addressing solutions to in vivo protein expression, with a focus on E.

coli strain construction and development. The Research Scientist will perform in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-based environment, but with a significant level of independence in experimental design, implementation, interpretation, and publication of results.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Develop new platforms for protein expression.
  • Engineer E.coli strains to support NEB protein production capabilities.
  • Develop companion products for the protein expression and competent cell portfolio.
  • Provide technical support for competent cell and protein expression products.
  • Required Qualifications :

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Microbiology or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' post-doctoral experience in an academic or industrial environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills.
  • Publication record demonstrating substantial experience with E. coli genetics, protein engineering, protein purification and enzyme assay development.
  • Demonstrated experience in finding solutions to protein expression problems.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Have a proven track record of independent and creative exploration of novel biological processes related to protein folding and expression.
  • Have a superior capacity for performing experiments, analyzing data, performing calculations and drawing conclusions regarding progress and results of work.
  • Have experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Be a highly intelligent, creative problem solver
  • Proven ability to successfully complete and publish independent research.
