The Safety Specialist acts as Qualified Occupational Health and Safety Specialist’ as required under Turkish legislation, provides advice on QSHE matters, in connection with Local and International Legislative Framework and Health and Safety Policy.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Providing the competent assistance role in accordance with the management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations as well as corporate Safety & Health and Environment continuous improvement activities
  • To liaise with the National QSHE Manager in dealing with the realization of QSHE Management System Elements
  • Develop and provide the Safe System Work Instructions according to safety risk assessment outcome as well as local regulations
  • Establishing Safety Risk Assessment team within the organization, carry out safety risk assessments; planning and following corrective & preventive activities according to risk assessment outcomes
  • Carry out safety internal audits and site inspections; complete site visits reports promptly and submit to the appropriate KN responsible, partners persons together with recommended actions
  • Report non-compliances to local manager and significant non-compliances to National Management
  • Organising / providing necessary occupational safety and health-related training in line with local regulations
  • Monitoring work-related incidents and injury claims; monitoring their frequency and quantum; planning and controlling related preventive actions against re-occurrence
  • Supervise occupational work incident investigations
  • Coordinate proper set up of local safety committees; participate to safety committees
  • Following occupational safety-related local regulations; informing the national management about safety-related regulatory changes or new regulations that would have the impact on company activities
  • Liaise with local authorities (safety related) / bodies and accompany their visits / inspections
  • Preparing emergency plans (natural disasters, fire, explosions etc) in cooperation with local management, organizing / coordinating emergency training, and evacuations drills
  • Conducting periodic review of local safety documents (policies, work instructions, forms, manuals etc) and make recommendations for improvement
  • Preparing annual safety report in cooperation with national QSHE manager
  • Assist the customer transition and integration team on new premises and businesses (related to Safety & health)
  • Providing guidance on preparing maintenance plans, periodic inspections and tests and controlling these activities
  • Guidance and consultancy about, workplace machinery and equipment selection when needed (workplace design, maintenance, and test activities) and assisting selection of related protective equipment’s
  • Coordinating implementation of Environmental Management System
  • Your skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 2 years experience in related field
  • Safety Specialist Certificate B level is required and minimum 2 years experience in related field
  • Positive, teamwork fostering ambition
  • Knowledge about national Health and Safety Regulations
  • Area-specific training and certificates (OHSAS 18001, Nebosh, ISO 14001).
  • Ability to motivate employees, subcontractors (leadership skills to direct the activities of the quality management system)
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills (reporting and information sharing)
  • An objective approach to operational processes, systems (auditing purpose)

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 2 years experience in related field
  • Safety Specialist Certificate B level is required and minimum 2 years experience in related field
