New England Biolabs is seeking applications for the position of Development Scientist. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of scientists to refine and develop molecular biology assays.
The Ideal candidate will be proficient in developing and validating new methods with minimal supervision.
Primary Responsibilities :
Design and test novel assays for new and existing products
Developing GMP compliant assays for current products, including QC’s, and activity assays for a variety of different types of enzymes
Developing assays in conjunction with the GMP staff with deliverable of final assay development reports
Serve as assay development resource for the department
Create and / or revise QC lab SOPs and STMs
Required Qualifications and Experience :
Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, chemistry, or related field preferred
Strong molecular biology background
Proven expertise in assay development
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Goal oriented team player with a strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications and Experience :
Experience with variety of equipment and assay technologies including, UPLC, CE, qPCR, Colorimetric and fluorescent assays
Experience with enzymatic activities covering all aspects of molecular biology including but not limited to polymerases, nucleases, phosphatases and other nucleic acid modifying enzymes
In-depth understanding of cGMP-regulated quality control responsibilities and analytical methods
Good hands at the bench and proven ability to perform careful and consistent experiments
Experience with high-throughput experiment design and analysis
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Experience with method validations and method transfers
In-depth technical knowledge in the field of analytical experiment design
