Role Description

  • Reporting to Legal Director in Turkey.
  • Partner with business colleagues in Turkey in advising on, leading and coordinating various legal matters, support to business units to maximize the values and protect the interests of the Company;
  • Deal with leading cross-functional, strategic or corporate projects from legal side;
  • Ensure compliance of Pfizer Turkey activities with country’s legal framework, internal rules and policies, industry ethical standards in the respective areas.
  • Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead legal issues / matters in respective areas in close collaboration with in- market functions (Commercial department, Finance, Accounting, Procurement) and Business with Region involvement if needed;
  • Expected to quickly gain and maintain an in-depth knowledge of Pfizer business and knowledge of the broader business impact of decisions made;
  • Partner with business in achieving its strategies and objectives in respective areas by providing a high-quality, proactive, objective and commercially-
  • orientated source of legal services and advice with respect to legal issues affecting Pfizer activities;
  • Act as the point of co-ordination to secure proper and compliant implementation of Pfizer business proposals and projects when requested;
  • Develop and continuously improve knowledge and expertise in key areas of law that are central to Pfizer Strategy Implementation;
  • Build awareness on legal issues in respective areas at all levels of the business. Sensitize all colleagues regarding proactive risk prevention.
  • Support by e.g. Seminars / discussion forums for staff, review / implement standard procedures covering key legal issues in respective areas.

  • Advice and support selected departments in legal aspects of their activities primarily marketing, promotional activities;
  • provide advice relating to antitrust law, FCPA and local anti- bribery legislation, unfair commercial practices;
  • Perform Corporate Secretary function : bear responsibility for local legal entities and representative offices, develop all necessary corporate documentation, make sure authorities of the company representatives are duly certified through respective powers of attorney and required corporate policies and procedures are developed and legally adopted.
  • Preparing corporate contracts including service, agency, sponsorship, speaker, confidentiality, procurement, distribution, consultancy, rental and lease agreements.
  • Defend the interests of the company in all matters in dispute and litigation / arbitration, before the professional associations or governmental agencies;
  • Represent company at professional and industry associations on legal and regulatory issues;
  • Liaise with respective NYHQ and regional organization's departments on respective areas;
  • Establish close cooperation with legal colleagues from the region or HQ responsible to respective businesses.
  • Qualifications

  • University degree in Law;
  • Excellent legal academic background from a reputable university;
  • Legal accreditation in Turkey (e.g. Bar membership);
  • Minimum 4-5 years of post-graduate experience in a law firm or an inhouse position is required;
  • Pharma focused legal experience is preferred;
  • Sound knowledge of corporate, advertisement and competition law;
  • Good understanding in commercial, regulatory framework for pharmaceuticals;
  • Fluent professional knowledge of written and spoken English & Turkish;
  • Effective Influencing and Communication;
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization;
  • Ability to deal effectively with members of the diverse functions with the presence and credibility to secure support, buy-
  • in, and enthusiasm internally and externally for a course of action;
  • Must also possess excellent relationship building, conflict management and networking skills;
  • Ability to influence and work cross functionally and interacting effectively within the organization.
